Chillingo and studio radiolaris unveil Radio Flare Redux for iPhone and iPod touch

Music Shoot-’Em-Up Breaks the Sound Barrier with Revolutionary Audio, Visuals and Gameplay

United Kingdom and Austria – October 2, 2009 – iPhone game publisher Chillingo and Austrian gaming company studio radiolaris have announced Radio Flare Redux, the sequel to IndieCade and IGF finalist game Radio Flare.

Radio Flare Redux is a revolutionary game that allows players to experience music in a new way. Although its core gameplay resembles a side-scrolling shoot-‘em-up, the game breaks new ground with each level focusing upon a different song. Enemies pulse in rhythm, shoot in rhythm, move in rhythm, and are part of the music itself. Radio Flare Redux distills the core gameplay of Radio Flare to a whole new experience. From the graphics and visual effects to the music and sound, the game brings a fresh new style to the iPhone.

An exciting teaser trailer for the game is available to view now

“It will be great to have multiple licensed music tracks in Radio Flare Redux. This way each level will be a unique experience.” says Fares Kayali, Sound Designer at studio radiolaris. Adds Martin Pichlmair, Lead Designer for Radio Flare Redux, “Everything is driven by rhythm and beat – from the enemies’ paths to their actions and even the background graphics!”

“Radio Flare Redux’s audio experience is just as intense as the visual experience,” promised Johnny Coghlan, Head of Publishing for Chillingo. “This game truly innovates to offer unprecedented quality and enjoyment for music game fans.”

The original Radio Flare is a finalist in the IndieCade 2009: The International Festival of Independent Games alongside fellow iPhone games Eliss and Ruben & Lullaby. IndieCade is one of the most important independent games festivals and held in Culver City from October 1st to 4th.

To celebrate the nomination of Radio Flare and the announcement of Radio Flare Redux, the original Radio Flare will be available for free on the weekend of October 3rd/4th.

Press Release: Zombies vs. Sheep

United Kingdom and Austria – July 20, 2009 – Casual iPhone App publisher Clickgamer.com and Austrian gaming company studio radiolaris today announced the availability of Zombies vs. Sheep on the Apple App Store.

Zombies vs. Sheep is a frenetic tap-to-shoot game set in a mexican-themed shooting gallery. Your mission: Protect the sheep from incoming waves of zombies. As the evening gets darker you will face more and stronger enemies. You are the last hope of the sheep. The gameplay is simple, you just have to shoot the zombies while moving your sheep to collect coins and avoid falling bats and flaming skulls! To move your ship simply tilt the phone, shoot by tapping the enemies and reload by quickly flicking the phone in any direction.

The game is played in survival mode and features 10 levels of increasing difficulty. You will face numerous different enemies and three epic boss fights. And, you can upgrade your sheep too! Is your sheep is too slow? Did you run out of bullets? Is your sheep nearly dead? Collect some coins and go to the shop to buy upgrades.

Jennifer Willis of Clickgamer.com says, “studio radiolaris’ Zombies versus Sheep is an addictive 2D game with a novel concept; shoot the zombies down and protect the sheep. Players can tap to shoot and shake to reset, making the entire gaming experience straight forward and fun from start to end.”

“Zombies vs Sheep is purely about fun. We wanted it to be as intense and rewarding as possible – with a decidedly comic note.” says Fares Kayali, producer of the game. “You stand against an army of poisonous spiders, aggressive bats and inflammable zombies. Good thing there’s dynamite.” adds Martin Pichlmair, Games Designer.

“The importance of protecting the sheep from invading armies of walking, crawling and flying undead is vastly underestimated by the current generation of political leaders.” jokes Mario Dancso, the guitarist who provided the game’s mariachi-style soundtrack.

“iPhone games are getting smaller and going social. Zombies vs. Sheep with OpenFeint is a perfect example of hilarity with your friends.” comments Jason Citron of Aurora Feint Inc. on the social gaming features of Zombies vs. Sheep.

Studio radiolaris is proud to announce the availability of Radio Flare Lite in the Apple App Store. The game is a free version of the musical shooter game Radio Flare. It is fully playable with highscore lists and two game modes featuring more than 50 enemy formations. At the same time we would like to advertise that Radio Flare is getting its first major update. “We are a young studio committed to producing great quality games. We listened to the audience and critics to learn what to make better in Radio Flare” explains Fares Kayali, one of the two founders of studio radiolaris. Martin Pichlmair adds: “We knew that we had got the game mechanics right but that the level design needed one more iteration. The game started out too easy and went too hard later on. We balanced it better in this release, made the difficulty curve smoother”

At this point we want to take the opportunity to thank all players, critics and reviewers for their valuable feedback. We received a lot of suggestions and have been working on improving your experience of the game. Press Release: Radio Flare – A musical shooter game

Vienna, Austria. studio radiolaris is proud to announce Radio Flare, a musical shooter game for the iPhone and iPod touch.

In Radio Flare, your space ship is equipped with a sonification beam that desynchronizes space debris, as well as an entire alien invasion force. Propelled by radio flares, your ship speeds pulsing through deep space, taking you on a journey into sound. The game features an interactive electronica track from Berlin based electronic musician DJ Glow (Trust Records).

You steer your ship with one finger while targeting enemies with another. Hit enemies are desynchronized in time to the beat and blast out radio flares. Collect radio flares to advance to the next stage and intensify the soundtrack. Rack up points and unlock achievements through tactically executed quadruple shot combos. Radio Flare features five stages, over 100 enemy formations, and a crowning final boss battle.

“Radio Flare immerses the player in music. It’s not about reproducing a song but about turning music into an interactive experience” explains Fares Kayali. “Our focus was on devising intuitive controls for a traditional genre on a platform with unique capabilities.
